Happy Fourth of July!

I know it’s disgusting and wet outside (at least in our little corner of the U.S. of A.), but I hope everyone has a great 4th.  I know my neighbors finished the Peachtree a little while ago.  I’m glad the weather hasn’t deterred too many people from joining in on the road race.  It certainly didn’t stop our neighborhood bike parade.       The Parade Begins My mom has been organizing our annual neighborhood bike parade for more years than I can count.

This years banner carriers.

The neighborhood kids all decorate their bikes, and follow the fire truck down to our cul-de-sac.  The rule is you stay behind the banner carriers so that you don’t get in the truck’s way.  Thus the responisble adults carrying it…because they just ooze responsibility, don’t they?

One of the "perks" of organizing the parade is that she gets to ride in the truck. I wont say I'm not a little jealous...

Normally they let my mom ride in the the truck…

Off we go

Whee!

So many bikes

We even have enthusiastic parade watchers.  (Who may or may not have camped out all night to get those awesome seats.  Which may or may not have something to do with them living there, but whatever.  It counts!)

Don't they look comfy?

Enthusiasm? Check! Sparklers? Check!

Enthusiasm? Check! Sparklers? Check! We got really worried from a distance when we saw all the smoke, but: Fire Department? Check! You know…just in case.

We let the fire department turn around and park in the cul-de-sac.  They let the kids look inside the truck.

The Fire Truck

And then we all get popsicles.

Because who doesn't want ice cream on a muggy GA morning?

Normally we’re Italian ice people, so the popsicles maaaaay have broken tradition, but we’ll let it slide because they were delicious.

I'm happy :)Thank you Alpharetta Fire Department for helping out with our little parade, and thank you people of Alpharetta for not setting anything on fire so that they could stick around for a while.  Have a safe happy Fourth of July!
